What's New for March

Tomorrow is the beginning of another new month and I've stocked up the shop with lots of new things.

This dresser I painted white, distressed and waxed.
I used to cringe when I would see people paint over hardware but on some pieces I actually really like it.
yes, that's my dog's paw in the corner. If it's not my child it's my dog.

 Lots of fun accesories

I went through my old college portfolio and brought some figure studies into the shop.

This cute basket has more sketches in it

I brought in a new hutch.
The hardware has such an impact on the overall look when it's not painted.

It could be used in almost any room of your home.

and I brought in a bunch of random hardware

Coming up: Two desks and chairs

Kids Work Station

I can't believe what a southern I'm turning into.. I can't stand winter anymore. I always get a little "home" sick at Christmas time with no snow but after that I want Spring.
It was 60 out today and I lovveeeddd it! I spent half the day outside painting a kids desk/bulletin board and the other half outside catching up with my neighbors who also came out of hibernation ;)

Here is the desk / bulletin boards "before"

It was likely part of a bunk bed set

 And here it is After!

I covered the cork with linen fabric and added a rope boarder. I love this shade of blue because I think it would work for a girl or boy.

if you're interested, it is going to the flea Saturday for only $129

And because I can't take a picture without my daughter being in it, here's one more.

What's New

I'm still working away making, painting, packaging and shipping lots of Etsy orders as well as making some new Wedding decor items to add to the shop soon.
Of course I've added new items at The Flea as well.
If you are not familiar with "The Flea" it is the same place that the blog Between Naps on the Porch often mentions. I feel blessed to be a dealer here. It has a reputation for a really fast turn-around and the other dealers have been so good to not only me but my daughter as well.
Here are some items I have there now.

I took better pictures of this aqua table but with my never ending technology issues, I can't upload them from my camera to my computer. But you can still tell it's cute and for sale for only $75 .

I'm sure you can tell that I have an eclectic style and love to mix old with new.

I brought this two-tone chest of drawers to the shop last weekend as well. I can see it in a little boys room.

I've already shown this green chest so this picture is mostly for the fun basket. I guess I just like color.

Here is the shorter, chunkier little brother of the two tone chest. Or maybe second cousin since this is new not vintage.

Dressers

We all know paint can drastically improve a piece of furniture, but I can't think of any better example than with this style dresser. ((Can someone please tell me what they're called?)) Thomasville is one company that made them, and they feature 6-9 drawers, ornate detail, and one or two doors with drawers inside.
Another feature is they are heavy.

They start out looking like some version of this:
BEFORE
This "before" picture really isn't showing you how bad these dressers look when not painted.

I've painted them two tone to be used as a TV console

I've painted the dresser and the hardware a different color, perfect for a buffet or sideboard

I've painted them for clients and removed drawers to store cable boxes and electronics and left the original hardware.

And most recently I've painted them all one color, including the hardware.

All of these pieces have sold, and I don't think any of them ended up in a bedroom. I can't wait to get my hands on another. There are so many options for the finish.

Mid Century Chest Before and After

Well, the 49ers waited a little too long to get it together last night, but watching it with my daughter was entertaining enough.

I haven't had much luck finding quality furniture to paint lately so I was pretty excited to find this mid century chest (which was marked as a desk by the way.. I was confused too.)
Modern, clean lines, dove tail drawers, yes please.

I thought it needed a more "modern" color so I went with a minty green.
No distressing, stain or wax. Just a semi-gloss poly.

I love how it came out!

Another "BEFORE"

And after I brought it to the shop...

I hope this is the beginning of a good luck streak in furniture hunting.

Vintage Door and Vintage.. sweatshirt?

Back in September I mentioned that I had painted some pieces for the interior design team "Project Style" for a design house. Well here is one of the projects I helped with.

BEFORE:
The ladies chose the colors and had me paint and distress the door. They then added some hooks to use it as a coat rack.

AFTER:
Fun huh?

Here's a close up of the mustache hooks and aqua color underneath.

And because it's super bowl Sunday, I thought I'd share the "vintage" 49ers shirt I'm rockin' ha!
This is me and my brother opening his sweatshirt on Christmas (1989)

And here it is today!
(sorry for the cellphone - mirror pic)

Hope they WIN!!
