Giant Frame Fun

If you log on to pinterest for 30seconds or have been to a young couples wedding in the last 6months you've probably seen the picture frame/photo booth trend.
Well friends, the frame I just painted is the Queen B of open-back, photo prop frames.

My daughter is proof that an over-sized frame and a camera are just fun.

And the fact that this one is full of detail is pretty amazing.

You want more examples of the fun? Here you go:

Goodness I love that girl.

Queen Bed

Often I buy pieces to paint and by the time they get to my garage I lose inspiration, and there they sit.
In time, inspiration hits me again (or I get low on inventory) and I unearth the piece from the saw dust, rags and paint cans that have accumulated on it.

That is exactly how painting this bed came about. I bought it in November and numerous pieces came and went while this poor girl waited patiently for her turn to shine.
sidenote: as I tell this story, Reba's song "Fancy" is playing in my head

Look at fancy now.. hand painted light blue with light grey. Distressed and waxed.

I picture it in a room full of neutrals, linen and maybe burlap.

Hopefully whoever buys it will send me a pic of it in it's new home.
Customer pictures make me happy.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.. Boys Room Style.

Let me start by saying it is very rare for me to re-finish a piece of furniture that is not built of quality, real wood. But when a neighbor asked if I wanted this armoire before she threw it away, I really didn't want to see it go to waste, even if it isn't solid wood.

And since I knew I could use Amy Howard's one step paint on any surface, I thought I'd take it and have fun with it!

I painted it with "vintage affliction," "java," and "atelier" and used both light and dark wax for the finish

I cut up a couple yard sticks I had on hand and adhered them to one door. I then attached two metal numbers and added fun mismatched knobs to the drawers for more personality.

The top is distressed, so when it goes to a boys room, the distress he puts on it will look intentional ;)

The interior is green and has lots of room for storing clothes, books, games or toys.

If you're in the Marietta, Ga area it will be available at A Classy Flea tomorrow (Friday, Jan 3)

And here are a few ideas for items to go with it in a boys room...

The Start of a New Year

My new year started with this client dresser being picked up...

So pretty... If you were hoping my new years resolution would be to use less turquoise and blues you will be sadly disappointed.

The finish is Amy Howards Dark Wax.

Thanks so much to my awesome client, Brandi!

Also, new for 2014 is this blue cabinet.
I brought it to the Flea this morning and even remembered to take a "before" picture when I first bought it :)

That cute little mess, with the ridiculously awesome fashion style, had to be in the picture.
She is getting the youngest job training ever.
