The Start of a New Year

My new year started with this client dresser being picked up...

So pretty... If you were hoping my new years resolution would be to use less turquoise and blues you will be sadly disappointed.

The finish is Amy Howards Dark Wax.

Also, new for 2014 is this blue cabinet. 

I brought it to the Flea this morning and even remembered to take a "before" picture when I first bought it :)

That cute little mess, with the ridiculously awesome fashion style, had to be in the picture.

 She is getting the youngest job training ever.

Headboard Happiness

Well, I thought my next post would be all Christmas related, but I just finished two headboards that I wanted to share.

My brother builds these from reclaimed wood and I add the finish based on each individual client.

 In this case there were two queen headboards for two college-aged sisters. 

The first I painted with two different colors, distressed and waxed it.

 

Looking through my blog you can see I am quite obviously no photographer; in fact my new years resolution is going to be 1.) make a resolution for once and 2.) to take a photography course of some kind.

 My love affair is with a paint brush. That being said, the photo above did manage to capture what gives me butterfly's in my stomach about my work. So much texture, tones and shades of paint, ahhh makes me happy!

 

The second headboard has a dark stain and poly finish. 

I am also painting a dresser and nightstand in gray to go in the same room.

 Again, the picture.

 So good.

I love how these are both uniquely beautiful. 

Opposites but some how the same. And they are for sisters, go figure.

The Story of the 6 Chairs and 3 Girls who Rescued Them

Once upon a time there were 6 chairs that found their selves dirty, beaten up and homeless. A kind girl fostered the chairs at A Classy Flea until they could find their forever home.

After just two days with their foster mom, another kind girl discovered the chairs and saw six diamonds in the rough.

A call for help was made to yet another kind girl named Kim at ReFound Vintage. After extensive treatment the chairs came out with a clean bill of health.

Chair Make-Over Part II

Yesterday I showed you this chair

I could make this chair work in almost any room of my house.. but I will resist, it's for sale.

I'm working on 6 chairs for a client that I'm really excited about. Here is the BEFORE

It's hard to tell in the picture, but these chairs are desperate for new fabric, and as much as I love fun colors, the green won't work with her decor. The client's picking the fabric, so they'll be completed some time next week.

Spring Break

My daughter is spending the weekend with her dad (and his fam) at the beach. It's bitter-sweet.

 I miss my mini-me, but I know she is having lots of fun and I've been staying super busy painting.

First, I painted this tall chest turquoise

Inside the doors are two more drawers and a little organization area.

Then I worked on some pieces for the owners of A Classy Flea.

The first night I painted this robins egg blue hutch:

Then the next day I painted some smaller pieces

I still have a lot more to do.. I'm so thankful for the work!

A Weeks Work

 

 

A couple weeks ago I met a really sweet woman who was looking for a dresser to use as a media console. She knew one could easily be converted, but with 3 kids and her husband over seas, she didn't have the time to do it herself.

 

 

I painted it black, distressed the edges and removed the top two drawers so she can either put baskets in or her cable box and all the components that come along with it.

 

 

She chose to leave the orginal hardware, which worked out well.

I never paint furntiure black, so it was a nice change of pace for me (and it came out great!)

 

 Over at The Flea I recently brought in some cute vintage furniture as well as a kids chalkboard table with two benches (the bowl holds chalk) - just in time for Christmas!

 

 

 

This grey and blue side table is a new addition as well.

 

 And on Etsy I have a new listing for embellished vases and bottles, that are perfect for country or vintage style events.

 

 

I'm really hoping to re-stock my etsy shop with a lot more furniture, which will (hopefully) be easier to do in the New Year when I go back down to one space at "The Flea" and have an easier work schedule there.

Changes, changes. It  really seems to be my motto lately!
