Christmas Living Room 2013

Clearly my Living Room is my favorite room to share.
So here is the 2013 Christmas time addition.

New for this year are my pretty, soft, white stockings. $7.99 each at Marshalls.
Also the buffalo head I got a couple months ago from another dealer at A Classy Flea.

I love fresh flowers, so I was all about purchasing this pretty white poinsetta to benefit a friend's daughters 4H group.
A silver ice bucket I had on hand makes a perfect "flower pot"

My faux ikea sheep skin found a new home across my coffee table for the season.

And the most exciting change is my mirrored dresser!! I just found it at GW.
It was black and screamed 1980s. My brother told me I just needed a panther statue to go with it HA!
All it took was some white paint to make it an amazing TV console.
If you are familiar with my blog, the gray dresser that was there has already sold the day I brought it a A Classy Flea.
So thankful for that!

I'll have to stock up on Windex ;)

I refinished this stool a while back and the Santa pillow I made 2 years ago.

I'm really happy with the progress this Room has made.
Here it is in the MLS listing nearly 3yrs ago.

BEFORE
AFTER

There are just three things left for me to feel like this room is complete.
You can call it my Christmas list.

1. An Area Rug - likely Jute

2. A New Couch - Casabella has some great ones!!

In a different color this one would be my favorite.. come on people I have dogs and a 4yr old

This might make me want to re-design the whole room to make the color work, probably not a good idea :)

Safest option?

3. A new Ceiling Light Fixture
Really don't know what I want for this one..

I really like this one from by Ralph Lauren via Happyroost

maybe something like this by Phillips

Living Room Updates

I've been needing some throw pillows for my couch for a long time now, and finally settled on some. The pink I already had, but a spontaneous stop into Kirkland's led me to the other two.

I really love the emerald green, I don't think the picture does it justice.

I also took out some warm, faux fur throws I've had, to give a more cozy, Fall feeling.

The pillows and throws are dog approved.

Another change I made was adding this vintage book shelf that I previously had for sale in my shop. It works a lot better in my space than the other piece I had there, so I swapped them out and sold the other one.

I'm not sure if I will leave it blue, but it works right now.

My Aunt gave me the vintage brass pine cone candle holder. I think it's so cute and can stay out for months.

Another shot of (one of) my dogs enjoying the ever-so-popular IKEA faux sheepskin

Anndddd here is a sneak peak of one of the two "x benches" I told you about last time.

The second one will be done this week, so I'll have final pictures to share. I also made a few updates to my Kitchen that I'll share :)

Simple Fall Decorating Part I

I started my fall decorating at home and decided this year I wanted to keep things simple, light and suddle. Here is the first completed part - the fire place side of my Living Room.

I'm still enjoying the simplicity of the vintage milk glass vases that I put on my mantel a couple months ago, so I just added some (artificial) wheat and grasses to them.

I placed three metal pumpkins on the fireplace. The largest one I purchased at a craft show a couple years ago and the other two are from my good friend, Ann's booth at A Classy Flea.
They are also great for outdoor use.

No real changes to the left of the fireplace... just some flowers from my yard.

To the right I added a wreath that has hung on my front door in previous years. .
I made it by hot gluing leaves again, and again, anddd ... again.
The leaves are from crate and barrel, unfortunately I don't think they still carry them.

The chair is vintage from another dealer at a classy flea. Vintage shutters fill the corner and a vintage wood crate (I'm seeing a theme here) holds what fire wood I had left over from last year.

I likely won't be lighting any fires for a few months to come, but I still added a vintage brass match stick holder, in anticipation of the cool weather that makes the Season so great.
(down in the right.. see it?)

I like the cute duck detail

Looking at the picture above, the only items that were purchased new are the pumpkins and fleur de lis wreath holder.

Happy Fall!

Living Room Changes. Yes, Again.

Simplify, Simplify.
My Living Room was too busy for me, I need calm and relaxing, so I did some editing.

Here is what it looks like right now:

Shutter and Chair are Vintage

What I did:

~Rearranged the Furniture

!~Removed the rug - it was the number one thing driving me a little crazy (It's for sale at A Classy Flea)

~Removed the clutter that was on the mantel

~Took out the old little farm table and large tole lamp (Lamp is For Sale)

This is how it looked last time you saw it:

BEFORE

Once I moved the TV, the proportions of the stand were way off. So I sold it and replaced it with a dresser that I painted.

The top drawers didn't have knobs and I haven't decided what kind I want

The new art work about my TV was a fun DIY that I used my daughter's help for.

I needed something in that space

So I hand painted a bunch of 4x6 frames I had on hand. Then I had my little artist go to town with three different shades of blue. I then cut out pieces of her work to fit into the frames.

So simple and fun!

they are not this bright in person

The color of the frames were inspired by my ikat pillows

And look what pillow is on one of the (4 awesome) Country Living Covers this month

Country Living apparently got theirs for $163 at lacefielddesigns.com
FYI - I paid no where near that much for mine.

One more time -

AFTER

All I need (right) now for my Living Room is a new rug (again) - something neutral this time.
New curtains and a ceiling light.
