"Iron" Nightstand

Have you ever heard the quote (or country song lyric) "If you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plans"? That's what comes to mind whenever I "plan" on a specific post or series. This, that, or the other happens instead and what I "planned" on doing doesn't happen.
So, forget about the Living Room make-over for now, and when it is complete it will be a nice surprise for us all :)

Today I want to share a recent nightstand pair re-do.

Here is the "BEFORE"

Can we talk about the iron mark on top of the table for a minute? Who puts a hot iron face down on a table? And then leaves it there so long it takes the finish off?? unreal people. It was probably the same kind of person who posts craigslist ads for things like chester drawers or rod  iron.
Don't you just want to answer the ad to correct their spelling and grammar?

Moving on..
I sanded the nightstands and painted them a glossy white then distressed them. The hardware was painted a different, less tacky, shade of gold.

AFTER

There they on the sidewalk at A Classy Flea
(where they sold hours after I brought them there-thanks to whomever purchased them!)

Here are a couple more pieces that sold before I could post about them;

 ornate vanity and mirror

green distressed desk.

Now, I need to get back to Etsy orders. My Dining Room has looked like this off and on all week.

Happy to be Back!

Well, a couple days ago my computer totally died, which may have something to do with my picture uploading issues. But I am sooo happy to be back! (thanks to my brothers computer)
I'd nearly given up on the idea of blogging so there are practically no photos of all the furniture I've recently been working on.
That's why it's the perfect time to share something BIGGER than one furniture make-over... like a whole ROOM of make-overs and thrifted decor.. in the form of my Living Room.

The style of my Living Room has definitely evolved through the years, and the fun thing is I have pictures to prove it!

First is my very first apartment after college, circa 2008

You should know I've moved quite a bit for one reason or another and never "settled" in any of these places.
This next picture is from a basement apartment I lived in, in 2009
Same couch, coffee table and TV console.

Then I moved into a house with amazing natural light that I miss dearly.
Not much change in the furniture though.

This next one is almost cringe worthy in decor.
Can you believe the life that sectional lived?

And finally, we arrive at my current, first purchased, home (2011)

After 5 houses of nearly identical layouts and the same furniture, I have since changed ALL of it.
That means no more sectional, no black ottoman, no black TV console, no aqua table or random basket in the corner, it's all gone.

If you've read my blog before you've seen bits and pieces of my current living room but I 've never done a full room shot. After I paint this weekend I will.
I wouldn't call it an "after" though because I still don't have the budget to get hard wood floors, so we'll just call it "progress."

Aqua and Chevron

Still no progress on my uploading issues :(
So here's another one picture post.
If you follow ReFound Vintage on Facebook you've already seen this before and after.

I got a great response to this piece of furniture, so I am super excited to announce my brother will be duplicating the shelf!!
That means I can offer this really cute and practical shelf in a few different colors to anyone who wants one!
I will soon have a listing available on etsy with pricing and dimensions. Shipping will be available through Greyhound Xpress. Production time will be about 2 weeks.

I feel like when I get my blog fixed I will have to come back with a really great post. Hmm pressures on..

Technical Difficulties

I've been unable to upload pictures for almost a week now, and have not been able to figure out the problem. I discovered a new way to upload pictures, but it only allows for one per post.

Needless to say, this is frustrating. Until this is resolved here is a sneak peak of one of the many things I've been trying to share.

Do you love him as much as I do?! The garden stool was a rare craigslist score for me, and for a great price.
I'll do a full post on this guy (or girl according to my daughter) when I get things running smooth again,
as well as my Monday series on frugal outfits.

Don't forget about me, I'm hoping this will all be worked out soon!
