Four

What a weekend!

Dance Recitals and Birthday Parties galore. My sweet girl tunred 4 yesterday.
Fastest year of my life, hands down.

The weekend was spent with dance people, family and chuck e cheese. but Monday (her actual birthday) was just me and my girl.

The morning was full of surprises for her.

The afternoon was full of playing outside, picnics and monster high.

preview of my living room progress

Then we went for her first mani and peti.

She picked pink, blue and purple. Her favorite colors.

That night her dad and grandparents came over for cake and gifts.

And now back to reality. I'm painting some furniture to sell on etsy today. hope every one has a great week!

Etsy

After much thought, I have re-opened my etsy shop. I made some changes though -
First all items I list are ready to ship; no more of the made-to-order crap that completely consumes my time. Secondly, no custom orders (see previous sentence) And thirdly, I'm not doing any more Wedding decor.

Why you're wondering? Because contrary to what I like to believe, I can not, in fact, do it all.
I love to paint, I love to decorate and I love all things vintage. So it only makes sense to focus on those areas and not dabble into a whole other world of weddings.

Here are some of the newly listed items.

For more info on these items go to www.ReFoundVintageHOME.etsy.com

Here's hoping I can get my online sales back to what they once were!

Deja Vu

Since installing the new floors in my house I've been making a lot of decor changes. One project I tackled was painting the hutch in my Dining Room.

Here is how it looks now

(The baseboard and trim still needs to be put back, so ignore that little eye sore)

I painted it, distressed it, changed the hardware and added a contact paper back.

If you're thinking you've read this before, it's because I did a very similar hutch last Summer. I sold it, but still love the look so I did the same thing to mine.

You can read more about the original here

The Little things that make me Happy

Happy Mother's Day!!

My mother's day was very low key, but my daughter did two things to make it perfect.

1. Her dad took her to Target to get me a Mother's Day gift. (if you've read my blog before you may have caught on to the fact that I am a single mom, however her dad and I feel that being friends and showing respect for each other around our daughter is extremely important)..While at Target she told her dad that I needed new leopard print flats, so that's what she got me. This is the most thoughtful thing ever. She remembered that my old ones got so worn out that I threw them away a couple weeks ago!
Seriously, so. thoughtful!

2. We spent the afternoon painting. While I was painting a shelf she painted a bird house. While painting she said " I want to make the bird house look old. I'll just paint some brown on it and rub it off with this paper towel."
What?? My 4yr old wanted to "antique" her birdhouse. She's the best thing ever.

If you "like" ReFound Vintage on Facebook you would know I painted a console/sideboard/cabinet for my Living Room.

Here is the BEFORE:

And AFTER

It's going to be the new home for my TV that has been hanging above my fireplace.

And look, no more carpet!

Here is the same space 2 years ago...

And here is my awesome brother putting in the new floors!
(the room was painted a few months ago)

I also painted a vintage dresser for work

Love the lines on this one. The two center doors have 3 more drawers inside. It's at the Flea for only $249.

Weekend Work

I'm pretty tired tonight and am struggling to put cohesive sentences together, but I really wanted to share this buffet I re-finished over the weekend.

It already had gorgeous hardware, it just needed a little pick-me-up with paint.

I didn't want to lose the character and age of the piece with a solid finish, so I let as much of the original wood finish show through as I could.
I'm so pleased with the results. And luckily so was the customer who bought it the first day it was available at the store.

By the way, I did something else really cool this past weekend.

I finally got NEW floors for my Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen!!! I'm so happy with them!! They're not completely installed yet, so I will share pictures when it's done.

I am also taking this time to weed out any furntiure and decor that I don't love and make over a few of my own pieces. All so exciting to me :)

Chair Make-Over Part II

Yesterday I showed you this chair

And mentioned I had a second one.

Well here is what I did with it

In case you missed it, here is the before

BEFORE

I could make this chair work in almost any room of my house.. but I will resist, it's for sale.

BEFORE
AFTER

I'm working on 6 chairs for a client that I'm really excited about. Here is the BEFORE

It's hard to tell in the picture, but these chairs are desperate for new fabric, and as much as I love fun colors, the green won't work with her decor. The client's picking the fabric, so they'll be completed some time next week.

***Update: both chairs have sold - thank you

April Furntiure

After three years of painting furniture for a living, it gets a little harder for me to be really excited about a piece. Don't get me wrong, I love each project I do, but they are often similar to something I've done in the past. So when I come up with something new, or take on a little different challenge, it's extra fun.

So what project am I referring to?
This chair.

BEFORE

AFTER

This is the first chair that I've re-upholstered with a back. Until now I've only done seats. Good thing it worked out for me, because I had two of these. I would have made them match, but I was using fabric I had on hand, so the second one will have gray ikat fabric with a dark turquiose frame.

chair and hand painted lamps are sold.

Gray, 3 drawer dresser and little table are available.

And in other, out-of-my-comfort-zone news, I painted a hutch red for one of the owners of A Classy Flea. What's the big deal about that? I have never painted one of my own pieces red. I'm just not a big fan of it.

But I love it. I've had a change of heart about the color.

Some other recent projects:

Turquoise Dresser (sold)

Turquoise Side Table (sold)

And some fun gray chairs with chevron, burlap seats.
Set of 4 available.
